Sarah Spence, of Columbus, is currently the Legislative Liaison for the Ohio School Facilities Commission where she serves as the contact between the commission, the Ohio General Assembly and governor’s office. She serves as the past-president of the Cap City Young Republicans.
Some of Sarah’s oldest memories are of walking in parades with her mother for local Republican candidates in Jackson County, including former State Representative and State Senator John Carey. Sarah first joined the Young Republicans in 2003 with the Toledo Metropolitan and Vicinity Young Republican Club (Toledo M.A.V.Y.R.C.s) while serving as campaign manager for a Congressional campaign. She later returned to her SE Ohio roots to start the Jackson County Young Republican Club and serve as SE Regional Vice Chair for the OYRs.
In 2006, Sarah moved to Columbus to work on the gubernatorial campaign of Ken Blackwell, and fell in love with Capital Square, its politics and the city. She became involved with the Cap City YRs, and has served the club’s membership chair, political chair, secretary and president. This will be Sarah’s third time serving as OYR secretary.
